Ukraine as of November 21, 2011, had threshed 55.4 million tonnes of grain, which was 34% up on the same date in 2010.
Grain and leguminous crops were gathered from 15.0 million hectares, or 97% of the target, the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry said on Monday.
The average yield of grain crops in the country is 37.0 centners per hectare (one centner equals 100 kilograms or 220.46 pounds) against 28.4 centners per hectare last year.
Currently Ukraine continues harvesting maize for seeds, soybean and sugar beet.
The yield of maize was 19.8 million tonnes from 3.2 million hectares (90% of the target). Its average yield is 61.5 centners per hectare, whereas it was 45.9 centners per hectare in 2010.
In particular, as of November 21, soybeans were gathered from 1.1 million hectares (99% of the target), the total yield was 2.2 million tonnes with the average yield being 20.3 centners per hectare against 16.1 centners per hectare in 2010.
As of November 21, farmers had also harvested 19.3 million tonnes of sugar beets from 530,000 hectares (98% of the target). The crop's average yield was 368 centners per hectare against 299 centners per hectare in 2010.
