Ukrzaliznytsia could raise loans from Russian banks to buy locomotives, says source

State Railways Administration Ukrzaliznytsia is in talks with Russian banks to raise UAH 28.67 billion to buy locomotives from Luhanskteplovoz and Georgia's Elmavalmshenebeli, an informed source has told Interfax-Ukraine.

Ukrzaliznytsia plans to raise the loans at 14% per annum.

According to the interlocutor of the agency, among the participants in the talks are Sberbank of Russia, Vnesheconombank, VTB Bank and the number of European banks that are interested in cooperation with Ukrzaliznytsia if the sector is reformed.

The source noted that the talks are being held on four lots, each of which foresees a separate agreement.

The source said that Sinara (Yekaterinburg, Russia) expressed interest in the renovation of Ukrzaliznytsia's locomotives. The company will soon present its produce to Vice Premier and Infrastructure Minister of Ukraine Borys Kolesnikov and the railway administration's top managers.
