The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine is planning to conduct an investigation into the pharmaceutical market to see if the market players observe the requirements of antimonopoly laws, reads a committee press release issued on Monday.
"The study is intended to provide for the proper functioning of the pharmaceutical market in line with competition laws. Efforts have to be united. The results of the work should be reflected in fair rules of behavior, which are to be observed by the whole pharmaceutical sector in the country," reads the release, citing the committee's head, Vasyl Tsushko.
According to the report, the grounds for the checks of the operations of the pharmaceutical market players by the committee was a jump in the prices of some medicine in Ukraine compared to the prices in countries where the medicine is produced.
The prices of Furadonin, Mukosan, Heparinum and Ceregin drugs increased.
"The similar situation is seen with plastic contraceptives and imported diapers for children, the prices of which are several times higher in Ukraine compared to the countries in which they are produced," reads the release.
