The Ukrainian government has included diapers, condoms, dental tools and materials, wheelchairs and some other goods in the list of medical goods that are exempt from value-added tax.
This is stipulated in cabinet resolution No. 867 of August 8, 2001 on the list of medical goods, supplies of which are free of VAT, reads a posting on the cabinet's Web site.
Supplies of cotton wool, gauze, bandage, dental tools and materials, pressure meters, endoscopes, various types of bottle teats and similar goods for children, nappies, diapers, glasses, wheelchairs, plastic contraceptives, heart pacemakers, orthopedic goods and other goods are exempted of value-added tax.
The resolution takes effect from the moment of its publication. Cabinet resolution No. 785 of June 9, 2011 lost its effect.
As reported, on August 1, 2011, cabinet resolution No. 785 of June 9, 2011 imposed VAT on a range of medical supplies and goods. The prices of the goods increased by 20% after the resolution took effect.
