The Emergencies Ministry of Ukraine expects that France's Novarka concern in September 2011 will submit a working project on the construction of a new safe containment structure at the Chornobyl Shelter facility to Chornobyl nuclear power plant (NPP) state-run enterprise, which ordered the project, Volodymyr Kholosha, the head of the State Agency for the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone Management, has said.
"In September the concern should transfer the project to the customer, taking into account the recommendations of regulating bodies," he told the press in Kyiv on Tuesday.
Kholosha said that after the project is approved by the Chornobyl NPP enterprise, the document will be sent to the interested ministries and bodies for examination, which will be completed by late 2011.
"If the Chornobyl NPP enterprise obtains the document in September, the procedure of its agreement, including by ministries and bodies, will continue until the end of this year," he said.
He said that Novarka had asked for the postponement of the date of the submission of the final document due to the large number of proposals on the working project, while Chornobyl NPP enterprise said that the project is to be submitted in the terms agreed earlier, as a delay will lead to a rise in the cost of the project.
Kholosha said that the draft document clearly fixes the basic parameters for the cost of the project as EUR 990 million, and the term for the commissioning of the facility as October 2015.
