The operator of all of the large hydroelectric power plants in Ukraine, open joint-stock company Ukrhydroenergo, and the Sinohydro Corporation Ltd (China) on July 1, 2011 signed a memorandum on cooperation in the construction of the Kaniv pumped storage plant, the press service of the Ukrainian company has reported.
"Sinohydro will carry out all required consultations and draw up a technical and commercial offer on the realization of the projects, which will be considered by the Ukrainian company," reads the report.
The sides agreed that in future Sinohydro would also work to ensure the financing of the project.
As reported, Sinohydro Corporation Limited is a multinational Chinese corporation headquartered in Beijing. Its core business includes construction, engineering and design work in the field of hydraulic and hydroelectric facilities in China and abroad.
As of January 1, 2010 the total capacity of hydro power plants and pumped storage plants in Ukraine stood at 5,414 megawatts.
