The Infrastructure Ministry of Ukraine plans to make local rail transportation profitable in three or four years, Vice Premier, Minister of Infrastructure Borys Kolesnikov has told reporters.

"We are working with the regional state administrations that want to have routes but do not want to pay money. We will carry out work with every governor, agree on the routes, optimize the schedule to see no losses. I think we will gradually, in three or four years, make this activity profitable,” he said.

According to Director General of State Railways Administration Volodymyr Kozak, system solutions will be developed, separate transportation sections will be created, mechanisms to work optimally with local authorities will be sought to avoid losses.
