Law on toughening of punishment for interference in activity of railway transport takes effect
A law foreseeing tougher penalties for interference in the activity of railway transport took effect on January 6, 2011, the press service of the State Railway Administration (Ukrzaliznytsia) has reported.
According to the press release, the fines for infringements on railway transport were increased. While earlier fines did not exceed UAH 17, they will now be from UAH 119 to UAH 225.
"Damage to tracks, protective vegetation, snow protection barriers and other railway objects will be punished with fines of from UAH 170 to UAH 510; while the fine for laying things on tracks that could cause train delays would be from UAH 255 to UAH 680," reads the report.
Fines for throwing waste and other objects from wagon windows and doors were also increased (A fine of from UAH 24 to UAH 170 is foreseen) and the fine for damaging the internal equipment of passenger carriages would be from UAH 170 to UAH 510.
The fine for the violation of rules for driving cattle across railway tracks and pasturing cattle near railways is to be from UAH 170 to UAH 340.
