Kyivstar to use around 30% of Beeline basic stations in Ukraine

During the merger of Ukrainian assets of Vimpelcom Ltd – CJSC Kyivstar GSM, CJSC Ukrainian Radio Systems (URS) and Golden Telecom Ltd. – only 30% of base stations operating in the URS network are to be used in the merged network.

"There are around 30% unique base stations in the total number of Beeline stations that we can use in our network," CJSC Kyivstar GSM President and the head of the Ukrainian business unit of Vimpelcom Ltd., Ihor Lytovchenko, has said in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

He said that the rest of the stations would be recycled or transferred to other companies of Vimpelcom Ltd Group.

As reported, after the start of the merger of Vimpelcom Ltd.'s assets, the company decided to gradually remove the Beeline brand from the market. URS and Golden Telecom's networks would be joined to Kyivstar's network. Lytovchenko said that Beeline subscribers would receive a chance to use national roaming in the Kyivstar's network and serviced under old tariffs.

"We'll launch special proposals for subscribers of the two companies, so that Beeline subscribers want to transfer to Kyivstar. These proposals would include the expected synergy," he said
