Situation involving liquid chlorine has stabilized

2 min read

The supply of liquid chlorine to the water supply and sewage facilities in Ukraine has stabilized, the Ukrvodokanalecologiya Association has said on its Facebook page.

"Today all water utilities operate in a regular mode without limiting the water supply, thanks to the joint efforts of the government, the association and LLC Aulska chlorine station (in the village of Auly, Dnipropetrovsk region). The supply of liquid chlorine is satisfactory and sufficient to ensure the high-quality and uninterrupted water supply," the message posted on Sunday, July 22, said.

In particular, according to the Association, joint-stock company Dniproazot is currently working for the chlorine workshops to resume operation: preparations have already been completed for the launch of production, which is expected in the near future. In addition, water services companies are able to buy liquid chlorine in Romania and Hungary at lower prices, although there remains a logistics need.

Ukrvodokanalecologia also said Ukraine's State Service on Food Safety and Consumer Protection together with specialists from the water and sewage facilities is now conducting field checks with the sampling of water and additional quality control.

As earlier reported, since April 2018, PJSC Ukrnafta stopped processing gas at Dniproazot, after which the chemical enterprise, which is the only supplier of chlorine for water purification in Ukraine, stopped work.

July 20, Dniproazot said it had resumed liquid chlorine production at its workshops.
