Real wages in Ukraine in September 2010 rose by 0.1% in September 2010 compared to August 2010, and by 10.8% compared to September 2009, the State Statistics Committee has reported.
Real wages grew by 9.8% January through September 2010 compared to the same period of 2009.
The largest increase in wages over the nine months was seen in Rivne region (14.5%), Volyn region (13.7%), Poltava region (13.5%), Luhansk region (13.4%), Cherkasy region (13.2%), and Dnipropetrovsk region (13.2%), the committee said.
The average wages of permanent employees from January through September 2010 in Ukraine grew by 19.5% year-over-year, to UAH 2,176. The average wages in September 2010 alone increased by 21.9% from September 2009 and by 3% from August 2009, to UAH 2,349.
The average monthly salary in the forestry sector grew by 32.7% January through September 2010 from the same period last year, in the health care sector by 24.9%, in industry by 24.3%, in the construction sector by 20.3%, in agriculture by 18.4%, in the utilities and individual services sector by 18.2%, in the transport and communications sector by 16.6%, education by 16.5%, and in the hospitality business by 15.2%.
As reported, the average wage in Ukraine in 2009 was UAH 1,906.
The official forex rate set by the National Bank of Ukraine as of October 26, 2010 was UAH 7.9116 per U.S. dollar.
