Ukraine wants to purchase new Russian EP-20 electric locomotives, RZD (OAO Russian Railways) Senior Vice President Valentin Gapanovich has told the press.
"We are discussing the possibility of this machine [EP-20] being used in Ukraine," he said.
He said that the sides are also discussing the possibility of using these locomotives on high-speed railway routes from Moscow to Kyiv and from Moscow to Adler via Kharkiv.
The EP-20 electric locomotive was developed jointly by France's Alstom and CJSC Transmashholding (Russia). It is planned that the locomotive will be produced at OAO Novocherkassk Locomotive Plant.
