The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has expressed its readiness to leave a pension reform as the main condition for issuing the next tranche to Ukraine, while excluding the adoption of a land reform, a source close to the talks has told Interfax-Ukraine.
According to the source, the IMF made the decision because there is no agreement between the fund and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on some important positions of the future land reform, and the relevant draft document has not yet been developed.
At the same time, it said the draft pension reform has already been submitted to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine after preliminary agreement with the IMF.
At the same time, another source in the government said at present the IMF has not officially confirmed its readiness to exclude the provision regarding the land reform in Ukraine from the draft memorandum.
The land reform along with the pension, medical, judicial reforms and the reform of public sector enterprises remains one of the most priority ones in Ukraine and is in the focus of attention of international partners. However, their format is not the subject of international recommendations and, as before, remains entirely at the discretion of the Ukrainian side.
