Govt approves package of legal acts to launch medicine reimbursement from April 1
Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers last week approved a package of revised legislative acts to launch the medicine cost reimbursement program for treating bronchial asthma, type 2 diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular diseases from April 1, 2017.
The press service of the Health Ministry has reported that the government passed the relevant amendments to the resolution on the provision of affordability of medicines.
"Medicines to treat cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes mellitus and bronchial asthma can be received at a pharmacy free of charge or with a small additional payment using a prescription. One must visit a doctor, receive the prescription with the actual substance, come to a pharmacy and receive the medicine," the ministry said.
The wholesale prices calculated as the median of the reference prices of the same medicines in the approved reference countries will be set for the medicines to treat these diseases.
The ministry said that medicines which cost would exceed the approved limit could be sold on the market.
Pharmacies will participate in the medicine reimbursement program on a voluntary basis.
