Prices of some medicines under the reimbursement program in some pharmacies started falling, Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman said at a government meeting on Wednesday.
"We have started the medicine price monitoring and have first results. There is a decline by 20% and even 70% for some medicines compared to the cost of the medicines in the pharmacies that left the prices at the previous level," he said.
The prime minister said that Ukraine is on the home straight on the way of optimizing the prices and introducing the reimbursement of the cost of medicines to treat cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes mellitus and bronchial asthma.
"The Health Ministry of Ukraine jointly with the Cabinet of Ministers drew up all required legal acts, held dozens of meetings with all market players – manufacturers, importers and pharmacy chains. Actually all mechanisms today have been implemented," he said.
Groysman pointed out the necessity of taking relevant measures by local authorities to implement the decisions to cut and reimburse the cost of medicines.
