Ukrtelecom to attract loans in 2010

OJSC Ukrtelecom is planning in 2010 to attract loans for the further development of profit-yielding broadband Internet access and mobile communications services, Ukrtelecom Board Chairman Heorhiy Dzekon said at a briefing in Kyiv on Monday.

"Ukrtelecom is not credited enough in relation to its liquidity indicators, so we could attract more credits. I think Ukrtelecom will attract loans for development," he said, commenting on a statement of State Communications Administration Head Mykola Honchar that the company is close to bankruptcy.

Dzekon also said that the company is in talks on the next repayment of part of credits taken from Deutsche Bank and Credit Suisse First Boston, which should be made in late February-early March.

"We will repay it for the fourth time, and I do not see any problem or danger in repaying this credit," Dzekon said.

As reported, head of the State Communications Administration Mykola Honchar said on Monday that Ukrtelecom's supervisory board decided at a meeting on February 10 to dismiss Dzekon as the company's board chairman. Honchar accused Dzekon of pursuing personal interests while holding this post.
