Central bank decides on liquidator of Arma Bank

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has appointed Maryna Slavkina liquidator of Kyiv-based Arma Bank, a well-informed source in the banking sector has told Interfax-Ukraine.

"NBU resolution No. 79 dated February 19, 2010, withdraws [the bank's] license as of February 22 and launches the liquidation procedure at Arma Bank," the source said. "Independent expert Maryna Slavkina has been appointed liquidator at the bank."

Slavkina in 2008 was deputy chairperson at Donetsk-based Pivdencombank's board. Earlier she was deputy chairperson at Kyiv-based Business-Standard Bank. In 2006 she was chairperson of Chernihiv-based PrivatInvest Bank.

As was reported earlier, a provisional administration at Arma Bank was appointed by the NBU in April 2009. Central bank representatives repeatedly claimed that investors were interested in the bank, but no agreements on the bank were struck.

As of January 1, 2010, the bank's largest stockholder was Almazniansky foundry and mechanical plant (Luhansk region) with 99.72%.

Arma Bank, founded in 2003, was 166th among 179 Ukrainian banks in terms of overall assets (UAH 122 million) as of January 1, 2010, according to the NBU.
