Ukraine and Oman are to sign a number of economic agreements, the press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has reported.
A statement posted on the ministry's Web site says that Ukrainian Foreign Minister Peter Poroshenko and Omani Minister of Commerce and Industry, Chairman of the Omani Center for Investment Promotion and Export Development Maqbool Ben Ali Sultan discussed this during the visit of a Ukrainian delegation to Oman.
"The parties also agreed on the end of the preparatory process for a number of economic agreements between the countries, including agreements on the avoidance of double taxation and agreements on the mutual protection of investment," reads the statement.
The Omani side also agreed with Poroshenko's proposal to consider the possible creation of a bilateral inter-governmental commission on trade and economic cooperation.
The ministry reported that the parties had agreed to exchange delegations and hold business forums by the end of 2010.
"The ministers also discussed the possibility of Ukrainian producers' entering the Omani market and the region as a whole, in such industries as construction, engineering, and agriculture," the ministry said.
