Kyiv-based Danube Navigation Stevedoring Company Ltd. plans by late 2010 to launch a general cargo transshipment complex behind berths one and two of the Mykolaiv Maritime Merchandise Port state company.
The port's' press service told Interfax-Ukraine that total estimated value of the project is UAH 229.1 million.
The port said that the investment commitments foresee the purchase of three new port cranes for the new terminal. The press service did not disclose the capacity of the complex.
Mykolaiv port is located on a territory of 97.3 hectares and has a water area of 224.5 hectares. The port is connected with the sea by means of the Bug and Dnieper firth channel. The length of the channel is 44 miles, and its width is 100 meters.
The port has 15 berths with the total length of 2,962 meters.
A 75% stake in Danube Navigation Stevedoring Company belongs to Metinvest B.V. (the Hague). Kyiv-based Seaside Terminal owns a 25% stake in the company.
