About 60 transport projects worth 2.4 trillion tenge to be implemented in Kazakhstan

57 transport projects worth 2.4 trillion tenge (current FOREX rate is 147.76/$1) will be carried out in Kazakhstan as part of the national industrial development program, said the Ministry of Transport and Communication.

"Six of these projects, valued at 1.1 trillion tenge, were included in the main industrialization map: 3 road transport projects, two railway projects and one civil aviation project," the ministry says in a statement.

"1400 km of railroad lines are to be built by 2020 and the projects Ozen-Turkmen border and Zhetygen-Korgas will be completed by 2012," according to the statement. About 16,000 km of national motor roads will be built and repaired.

"The construction of the unfinished facilities will continue and new local motor roads, 2020 km long and 29.1 billion tenge in value, will be built. These projects will create over 26,000 working places," the statement runs.

By 2020 fifteen airports will be certified as per ICAO standards.
