Agricultural associations asking prime minister to revoke antidumping duties on mineral fertilizers

Six agricultural associations have asked Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk to stabilize the price situation on the mineral fertilizers market before the spring sowing campaign.

The address is posted on the website of the Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation with signatures of the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club, Agrarian Union, Association of Farmers and Private Land Owners, Union of Fodder Manufacturers and Ukrainian Agrarian Association.

According to the document, in the past years consumption of key types of mineral fertilizers is growing in Ukraine, while high prices of fertilizers are seen on the market, which is linked to instability of the national currency and the seasonal growth of demand.

Agricultural associations asked the prime minister to take effective steps to stabilize the situation on the mineral fertilizers market, revoke antidumping duties on them, not allow the introduction of new duties and conduct the fair and transparent privatization of Odesa Port-Side Plant.

Farmers are alarmed at the report on the website of Odesa Port-Side Plant that the company exports 80% of its products to 30 countries. On December 28, 2015, the ammonia workshop at the plant was stopped.

According to the address, as of early February 2016, farmers have 46% of their need in mineral fertilizers (439,000 tonnes).

As reported, in 2014, Ukraine increased antidumping duties on ammonium nitrate from Russia by three times, from 11.91% to 36.03% and prolonged them by five years.

In 2015, the parliament supported the facilitation of registration of imported mineral fertilizers.
