The number of Ukrainian banks with losses in the first quarter of 2015 reached 58, while in 2014 some 52 banks recorded losses.
According to the website of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU), the overall balanced loss of the banking system in the first quarter amounted to UAH 80.892 billion.
The number of operating banks fell by 25 financial institutions, to 133 banks.
According to the NBU, the major amount of losses in the first quarter was formed by the largest banks: 12 of the 14 financial institutions in this group worked with losses.
The largest profit among all banks in the first quarter was recorded by Citibank (UAH 337.042 million), Unicombank (UAH 115.569 million), Credit Agricole Bank (UAH 92.227 million).
However, the largest losses were recorded at insolvent Delta Bank (UAH 33.279 billion) and Bank Nadra (UAH 21.675 billion), as well as state-controlled Ukreximbank (UAH 4.534 billion).
