The outflow of funds from the Ukrainian banking system continues but a positive downward trend has been observed, the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) wrote on its Facebook page, referring to assessments made by bankers.
"As for general market trends, bankers said that outflow of funds from the system continues. However, the positive downward trend for outflow is seen," reads the report.
The NBU said that on March 10 a weekly meeting with the heads of banks was held.
The central bank said that the heads linked the change with the gradual stabilization of the situation in eastern Ukraine.
Banker also said that the best signal for the public to return their money to deposit accounts will be the ceasefire being observed and peace being established
The participants of the meeting also discussed the first results of the administrative restrictions imposed last week.
NBU said that in general, the bankers confirmed the importance and the efficiency of the new measures.
"Their [bankers'] clients do not face extra difficulties due to the new rules, and professional consultations are provided to them if it is required," reads the report.
The NBU said that banks had raised questions about their operation under the new administrative rules, and that the NBU is ready to answer the questions.
NBU Governor Valeriya Gontareva again urged bankers to join the NBU's imitative to settle the issue of currency-pegged credits of citizens, and to sign a memorandum on settling the restructuring consumer credits in foreign currency issue: 12 banks have agreed to voluntarily take part of the losses linked to the hryvnia devaluation in 2014.
