Private energy service companies (ESCO), in implementing a system on signing ESCO contracts for February 2015, have a potential capital investment in maintaining multi-apartment buildings worth an estimated UAH 225 billion.
According to the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving, this was announced by service head Serhiy Savchuk, commenting on the Verkhovna Rada’s adoption at first reading of the relevant draft law on February 5.
"The bill eliminates major obstacles to attracting private capital into the field of energy efficiency in social and humanitarian objects and lays the foundation for energy service contracts in multi-apartment buildings, where ESCO companies, under the condition of certain economic incentives from the state, have the potential of capital investment in the amount of UAH 225 billion, which in the long run will save 2.25 billion cubic meters of gas per year in district heating," he said.
In addition, energy saving in public buildings, through the introduction of energy efficiency projects, is estimated at 800 million cubic meters of natural gas, or UAH 6.5 billion budget funds per year, he added.
