Pharmacy sales in 2014 14% up in monetary terms, 11.5% down in packages, says Proxima Research

Pharmacy sales in 2014 grew by 14% compared to 2013 in monetary terms, to UAH 40.865 billion, and fell by 11.5% in packages, to 1.764 billion, Apteka publication has reported, quoting tentative data provided by Proxima Research.

The company said that in 2014, pharmacy sales of drugs grew by 14.5% in monetary terms, to UAH 34.838 billion, and fell in packages by 12.2%, to 1.118 packages. The share of this segment in total pharmacy sales came to 85.3% in monetary terms and 63.4% in packages.

Retail sales of medical products grew by 13.9% in monetary terms, to UAH 3.244 billion, and fell in packages by 10.2%, to 550 million packages. The share of this segment in 2014 was 7.9% in monetary terms and 31.2% in packages.

Pharmacy sales of cosmetics in monetary terms rose by 5.6%, to UAH 1.543 billion, and fell by 13.2% in packages, to 51.7 million. The share of this segment in 2014 was 3.8% of total pharmacy sales in monetary terms and 2.9% in packages.

The share of pharmacy sales of dietary supplements in monetary terms grew by 12.3%, to UAH 1.24 billion, and fell by 6.3% in packages, to 43.3 million. The share of dietary supplements in 2014 amounted for 3% of total sales in money terms and 2.5% in packages.
