Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) is intending to sell a 6% stake to bought back earlier from Ireland's AerCap, UIA President Yuriy Miroshnykov has said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine.
"We are planning to sell AerCap's stake soon," he said.
The air carrier plans to carry out the deal by the end of 2009, UIA Press Secretary Yevheniya Satskaya said.
"If we do not sell the shares within a year of the moment they were bought back, they will be annulled," she said.
As reported, in December 2008, UIA bought 6% of its shares from Ireland's AerCap.
CJSC Ukraine International Airlines was founded in 1992. The company has 19 Boeing airplanes of various types: five Boeing 737-300s, six Boeing 737-400s, six Boeing 737-500s, and two Boeing 737-800s. The company's main airport is Boryspil International Airport.
In 2008, UIA boosted passenger transportation by 16.5%, to 1.68 million people.
UIA's net losses in the first six months of 2009 were estimated at UAH 18.77 million compared to a net profit of UAH 2.73 million registered in the first half of 2008. The company's net revenues grew by 8.4%, to UAH 848.01 million in the first half of 2009.
