Ukraine International Airlines (UIA, Kyiv) is mulling the possibility of launching regular flights to India and Kenya after the company replenishes its fleet with new Boeing 737-800s, Serhiy Fomenko, the vice president on sales and marketing at UIA, has told Interfax-Ukraine.
"This plane can reach India and Kenya. The geography of flights could be wide," he said.
Fomenko said that the new planes allow to increase the carrier's revenues for one flight.
He said that the efficiency of the plane allowed the company to slightly decrease ticket prices on the number of routes.
CJSC Ukraine International Airlines was founded in 1992. The company has 19 Boeing airplanes of various types: five Boeing 737-300s, six Boeing 737-400s, six Boeing 737-500s, and two Boeing 737-800s. The company's main airport is Boryspil International Airport.
In 2008, UIA boosted passenger transportation by 16.5%, to 1.68 million people.
UIA's net losses in the first six months of 2009 were estimated at UAH 18.77 million compared to a net profit of UAH 2.73 million registered in the first half of 2008. The company's net revenues grew by 8.4%, to UAH 848.01 million in the first half of 2009.
