Kyiv, August 21 (Interfax-Ukraine) - The share of bad credits in the total amount of loans extended by Ukrainian banks in July 2009 grew by 0.7 percentage points, to6.17% by August 1, 2009, the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has reported.
The amount of bad credits in monetary terms in July grew by 13.2%, to UAH 46.055 billion, the NBU said.
Since the beginning of the year, bad debts have grown by almost 2.6 times, by UAH 28.04 billion.
According to the Central Bank, the banks' overall registered statutory capital in July expanded by 12.2%, to UAH 103.261 billion.
The NBU also reported that the overall number of operating banks in Ukraine with foreign capital in July remained at 51. The number of banks with 100% foreign capital last month also remained unchanged: there are 17 such banks in Ukraine.
The share of foreign capital in the banks' overall statutory capital in July fell to 34.8% from 39.1%, registered in June 2009.
As the NBU reported, by August 1 there were 186 operating banks out of 198 registered banks, including nine banks undergoing liquidation.
