The number of mobile communications subscribers in Ukraine edged up 0.6% or 350,000, to 55.24 million in July 2009, marking the first time this year that this indicator has increased, iKS Consulting said in an analytical report.
The level of mobile penetration in Ukraine was 120% at the end of July compared with 119.2% a month earlier, iKS Consulting said.
CJSC Kyivstar GSM remains the market leader. The company saw the number of its subscribers grow by 0.18% or 39,760, to 22.263 million subscribers in July.
CJSC Ukrainian Mobile Communication's clientele grew by 0.06% or 11,020, to 17.79 million.
Kyiv-based Astelit LLC attracted 140,000 new subscribers for a 1.2% increase in its subscriber base, to 11.84 million.
CJSC Ukrainian Radio Systems (Beeline) saw its subscriber base expand 6.32% or 122,180, to 2.056 million in July.
CJSC Telesystems of Ukraine was the leader in the number of subscribers among CDMA-operators in July, increasing the subscriber base by 2.58% to 334,860. International Telecommunication Company LLC (operator of the CDMA Ukraine brand) boosted its subscriber base 0.57% to 310,300.
OJSC Ukrtelecom surpassed another market competitor by subscriber numbers in July for the first time since it launched its mobile communications network in November 2007, boosting its subscriber base 4.36% to 307,700. This was higher than Odesa-based International Telecommunications Ltd. (Intertelecom), whose subscriber base grew 3.26% to 301,465 in July.
