State Railways Administration Ukrzaliznytsia from August 1 launched the electronic system for swift planning of grain shipments.
Its press service reported that the system would allow avoiding the accumulation of grain carriers in the transshipment points, as grain would be loaded only after agreeing it with the transshipping complexes. Transportation of volumes that exceed the ceiling handling capacity of transshipment facilities located near ports and the absence of ships at the moment of arrival of trains contributes in the standstill of loaded wagons near the ports.
Ukrzaliznytsia said that railways should cooperate with cargo senders and recipients, plan volumes of transportation and inform the administration.
In addition, Ukrzaliznytsia said that another reason for the standstill of loaded wagons is a long procedure for the registration of documents at customs checkpoints.
