The Ukrainian Agriculture Ministry may improve its forecast for grain export this marketing year (July 2009 through June 2010), Agriculture Minister Yuriy Melnyk said at a government meeting on Wednesday.
He said that Ukraine had already harvested 36.3 million tonnes of early grain crops, including 21.2 million tonnes of wheat, on 98% of the sowing area.
"This is a bit more than forecast earlier," Melnyk said.
As reported, the Agriculture Ministry said earlier that Ukraine would export 17 million tonnes of grain during the 2009/2010 marketing year, compared to 24.7 million tonnes exported during the 2008/2009 marketing year.
