EU offer to Ukraine is long-term, says Rompuy
The offer made by the EU to Ukraine on a deep and comprehensive free trade area is designed for a long-term prospect for Ukraine's development, whereas other offers are shot-term and are aimed at preventing a collapse, European Council President Herman Van Rompuy has said.
Rompuy told a press conference in Brussels on Friday, commenting on the agreements reached by Ukraine and Russia in Moscow, that the EU's offer of a deep and comprehensive free trade area between Ukraine and the EU will increase Ukraine's GDP by at least by 6%, whereas other offers are short-term measures aimed at preventing a collapse.
Rompuy reiterated that the offer made by the EU is in the interests of Ukraine's economy and the people of Ukraine and opens up the prospects of a modern society based on values.
