An-124 plane production recovery program includes production of 80 planes, says Ukrainian premier

The Russian-Ukrainian intergovernmental agreement on government support for resuming the mass production of Antonov An-124 planes with various versions of the D-18T engine foresees the production of 80 planes, Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has said.

"The total production volume for An-124 [planes is] 80 planes," he said, opening a cabinet meeting in Kyiv on Wednesday.

The premier added that the total revenues from the sale of the said transport aircraft is estimated at $12.89 billion.

Azarov said that supplies under cooperation would be exempted from customs and tax duties during the realization of the joint project.

The premier said that the realization of the project would ensure there is work for the industrial facilities of many enterprises of the Ukrainian and Russian industrial sectors.

The project will be realized under cooperation between Antonov State Enterprise (Ukraine) and United Aircraft Corporation (UAC, Russia). An agreement to create a joint venture was first announced after a meeting of Azarov with his Russian counterpart, Dmitry Medvedev, in Sochi in July 2013.
