Bogdan Corporation starts supplying trolleybuses to Lublin, says corporation president
A consortium consisting of Bogdan Corporation and Poland's Ursus have supplied the first five trolleybuses to Lublin (Poland) under a contract for the supply of 38 trolleybuses.
Corporation President Oleh Svynarchuk told Interfax-Ukraine that currently the trolleybuses are being registered, and in the coming days they will start operating on the streets of Lublin.
He noted that the recognition of Ukrainian trolleybuses in the European Union indicates the quality of the company's products, and said that Bogdan is the first Ukrainian company to supply trolleybuses to the EU.
At the same time, he stressed that the EU had banned the use of used public transport, while the Ukrainian authorities, instead of placing orders at Ukrainian companies, are lobbying for laws that allow the purchase of such vehicles.
As reported, Bogdan Corporation and Ursus signed a contract for the supply of 38 trolleybuses worth $21.7 million in late April this year after winning the relevant tender.
Under the contract, the Ukrainian-Polish consortium will supply the next 12 trolleybuses by mid-June next year, and the remaining 15 units – by April 2015.
