An agreement that Kyivmiskbud will be the chief constructor for the Olimpiysky National Sports Complex was signed in Kyiv on Friday.
The acting director general of Olimpiysky Sports Complex, Dmytro Cherniavsky, and Kyivmiskbud board chairman, Petro Shyliuk, signed the agreement.
The signing of the agreement was attended by Family, Youth and Sorts Minister Yuriy Pavlenko, who voiced hope that a powerful and experienced company like Kyivmiskbud would be able to complete the work on schedule.
Pavlenko said that the chief constructor of the reconstruction of the stadium was selected at a meeting of the interagency commission for Ukraine's preparations to host the European Football Championship 2012 on November 25, 2008.
Shyliuk, in turn, thanked the Family, Youth and Sorts Ministry for its trust, adding that all state funds will be [returned].
He said that Kyivmiskbud had earlier constructed and reconstructed the Olimpiysky stadium.
Pavlenko said that all construction and reconstruction works will start on December 1 and will be completed on December 1, 2010.
He said that at the meeting held on November 25, 2008 where the chief constructor of the stadium was selected, some 20 national construction companies presented their ideas for the reconstruction of the stadium.
The minister said that Kyivmiskbud was selected unanimously, but the other 20 companies that took part in the meeting may be involved in construction as sub-constructors.
Pavlenko said that the selection of the chief constructor from a number of national construction companies was explained by the fact that in the conditions of the economic crisis it would be a crime to give state budget funds to foreign companies.
After the signing of the agreement, Pavlenko and Shyliuk inspected the construction and dismantling work going on at the stadium.
