South Korean Samsung Electronics is ready to switch to centralize supplies of mobile phones to Ukraine, although only for cheap models worth up to $100, a specialist for telecommunications direction at the company's Ukrainian representative office, Anton Pravdivy, has told Interfax-Ukraine.
He said that a switch of vendors to centralize supplies that are foreseen in new rules of imports of radio-electronic devices to Ukraine, which came into effect in March, actually could destroy distribution business.
"We've been establishing present mutually beneficial relations with our distributors for many years and we would not like to destroy them," he said.
Pravdivy also said that the opening of an own sales representative office would lead to a fall in so-called "grey" imports, but this would lead to the increase in the prices of mobile phones on the market, which is not profitable for the producer.
"Of course, we're studying centralize deliveries, but mainly for cheap models," he said.
As reported, the deliveries on the CIP (carriage and insurance paid) and DDP conditions are foreseen in new rules on imports of radio-electronic devices which came into effect in late March, and according to the National Communications Regulatory Commission (NCRC), they are one of the most efficient methods to fight smuggling of mobile phones.
