Ukrainian banks transfer UAH 2.8 b to NBU in currency auction on November 26

Ukrainian banks have transferred UAH 2.8 billion to the accounts in the National Bank of Ukraine for a currency auction scheduled for November 26, NBU First Deputy Head Anatoliy Shapovalov told journalists on Wednesday.

According to Shapovalov, over 100 banks submitted applications for participation in the auction

"Today a currency auction will be conducted. It is not only Naftogaz Ukrainy that is buying [currency] - 111 banks submitted applications. They [the banks] by 1400 are to provide us with the rate they propose and an explanation of why they are buying the currency," Shapovalov said.

The auction will be performed according to a new scheme, due to which the banks' applications will be satisfied at a rate set by the banks, while at the previous auction the NBU sold currency to the banks at a rate of UAH 5.98 per $1.
