Agrarian Fund could start interventions on sugar market in early June, says agriculture minister

The Agrarian Fund of Ukraine could start selling sugar to retail chains in early June, Agriculture Minister Yuriy Melnyk told journalists on Wednesday.

"Sugar sales could be started from next week," he said.

Melnyk said that last week the government commissioned the Agrarian Fund and the State Committee for State Material Reserve to sell sugar to provide a stable price situation on the domestic market. The Agriculture Ministry proposed that sugar from the Agrarian Fund be sold at a price of UAH 3.71 per kilogram (not including supply and other expenses), the minister said.
