Actual year-on-year wages in Ukraine fell in April 2009 by 8.1%, while in April 2008 it grew by 7.7% year-over-year, the State Statistics Committee reported on Tuesday.
According to the committee, the average nominal wage in April 2009 was UAH 1,845, which is a 1.5% rise against March 2009 and 6.3% compared to April 2008.
The highest wages in April 2009 were registered in Kyiv city (UAH 3,147), Kyiv region (UAH 1,905) Donetsk region (UAH 2,013), Dnipropetrovsk region (UAH 1,925), Luhansk region (UAH 1,817) and Mykolaiv region (UAH 1,804), the committee reported.
The lowest wages in April 2009 were in the Ternopil, Volyn and Chernihiv regions (UAH 1,339, UAH 1,348 and 1,385 respectively), the committee added.
