EBRD predicts slowdown in Ukrainian economic growth to 1% in 2009

Ukraine's economic growth will slow to 6% in 2008, and to 1% in 2009, against 7.6% in 2007, reads a report entitled "Transition Report 2008" published by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development on Tuesday.

According to the document, Ukraine's inflation will remain at a rather high level of 20% (December to December) in 2009.

The EBRD sees growth in Central Europe and Baltic countries slowing to 4.3% in 2008 from 6.3% last year and easing further to 2.2% in 2009.

Growth in the CIS and Mongolia is predicted to slow to 7.3% this year from 8.5% and to drop to 3.4% in 2009.

Growth in southeastern Europe is seen rising to 6.5% this year from 6.2% in 2007 and then falling back to 3.1% next year.
