Naftogaz to clear gas debt to Gazprom, says Dubyna

The national joint-stock company Naftogaz Ukrainy is continuing to cooperate with the banks in order to repay a gas debt to Gazprom, Naftogaz CEO Oleh Dubyna has said.

"We are leaving for Moscow to find ways to resolve this problem. I think we will settle these issues," the government's press service quoted him as saying at a meeting with Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko on Monday.

Dubyna said that the company had repaid the gas debts accumulated by the previous government in 2007. He said that Naftogaz had already repaid nearly UAH 3.8 billion for gas consumed by UkrGaz-Energo in November-December 2007 and had cleared loans and interest rates on loans worth UAH 2.5 billion.
