Kazakhstan climbs in global prosperity ranking

In the Legatum Institute's Prosperity Index, Kazakhstan held the best position among CIS countries and ranked 46th out of 144 countries.

Kazakhstan's previous year ranking was 50th out of 110 countries.

According to the institute, Kazakhstan proposed most in CIS: Russia was 66th (7 places down), Ukraine 71st, Belarus 54th, Uzbekistan 64th, Mongolia 59th, Kyrgyzstan 88th.

The prosperity ranking measure the accomplishments of each state in eight categories. Kazakhstan was 54th in Economy, 59th in Entrepreneurship Opportunity, 95th in

Governance, 43rd in Education, 60th Health, 53rd in Safety Security, 43rd in Personal Freedom, 37th in Social Capital.

Meanwhile, Scandinavian countries prosper most, with Norway, Denmark and Sweden topping the overall Index (first, second and third). The top five also includes Australia and New Zealand, followed by Canada (6th place), Finland, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Ireland.
