Kyiv is in talks with international financial organizations on raising a loan for the reconstruction of the Bortnychi aeration plant, Head of Kyiv City State Administration Oleksandr Popov has said in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
"We're holding consultations with potential partners. I won't name them, but this is an international financial organization. These are not commercial banks, I mean that these are international financial organizations, with which Ukraine and the whole world is trying to work, because these are cheap long-term loans, which are easily paid off via the introduction of energy saving technologies," said Popov.
He said the international financial organizations are the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the World Bank, and "other financial institutions that operate at 3% per annum."
"We're expecting Kyivvodokanal to start working on such programs next year. Anyway, we are holding active consultations," Popov said.
Currently Kyivvodokanal is actively developing project documents for the reconstruction of the aeration plant. It is planned at the first stage to raise $250 million for this purpose.
"We need billions of hryvnias [for the plant's reconstruction]. I think that at the initial stage we should consider least $200-250 million to say that it is serious investment," said the official.
