Prime minister: No fundamental reasons for hryvnia devaluation

Ukrainian Premier Mykola Azarov has said that there are no preconditions for a sharp fall in the hryvnia exchange rate in the near future.

"There are no fundamental reasons for a hryvnia devaluation," he said in an interview with Ukrainian television channels on Thursday.

The premier said that there are stable foreign currency reserves in the country, which would guarantee the stability of the national currency's exchange rate.

Azarov said that it was normal for the exchange rate to fluctuate within 1-2%.
