Ukrzaliznytsia receives first 6 passenger carriages ordered in 2025
JSC Ukrzaliznytsia has received the first six new passenger carriages out of 100 ordered in 2025 from PJSC Kryukiv Railway Car Building Works (KVSZ), Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration and Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksiy Kuleba reported on Telegram.
According to the report, the total contract value is approximately UAH 6.5 billion, with financing provided by the state budget.
Deliveries are expected to be carried out in stages until May 2028, and 60 such carriages are to be ready by the end of 2026.
Kuleba explained that this is a large-scale fleet renewal—88 modern compartment carriages, seven inclusive carriages for people in wheelchairs, and five new-generation carriages with a service life extended by 20 years.
The carriages have air conditioning, are equipped with batteries, and feature solutions and amenities for traveling with children, the report said.
It is noted that the newly manufactured carriages have already arrived in Kyiv and are being prepared for their first trip. More than 150 Ukrainian companies, including those from frontline and relocated regions, were involved in their creation.
The Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration also specified that the first carriages will enter service as part of a new flagship train to be presented by Ukrzaliznytsia on April 28.
