Ukraine exports 436,000 tonnes of poultry in 2025 – analysts
Ukraine exported 436,000 tonnes of poultry in 2025, a 2% decrease compared to the previous year, the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club (UCAB) said.
The business association noted that despite the slight annual dip, current export volumes are 1% higher than the five-year average. The primary consumers of Ukrainian products remain the EU (30.6%), the Middle East (27.2%), and European countries outside the European Union (22.6%).
According to analysts, total poultry production in 2025 reached 1.39 million tonnes. The industry is gradually recovering, with the bird population rising to 192.3 million as of early 2026 (up 3%). Industrial enterprises account for 64% of the poultry, while households and small farms account for 36%.
"Growth is primarily supported by industrial enterprises that are investing in modernization and biosafety, allowing them to maintain efficiency despite high feed costs," the association explained.
A notable trend of the year was a sharp decline in imports to 46,000 tonnes, which is 73% below the five-year average. UCAB attributes this to increased market self-sufficiency and growing capacities of domestic producers, who are successfully replacing foreign products.
"The poultry industry is operating under economic and energy challenges but retains its production potential. The strengthening role of medium and regional producers, along with their investments in modernization, plays a key role in supporting the internal market and boosting exports," UCAB concluded.
