Ukraine resumes oil transit via Druzhba pipeline – source
Ukraine on Wednesday restored oil transit via the Druzhba pipeline after 12:00, a source close to the Ukrainian government told the Energoreforma website.
"Oil transit was launched at 12:35. Pumping has begun," the source said.
The source has not yet specified the volume of pumping.
The resumption of oil supplies via the Druzhba pipeline to Slovakia is expected on Thursday morning, as previously reported with reference to Slovak Economy Minister Denisa Sakova.
Hungary and Slovakia have not received Russian oil via the Druzhba pipeline since January 27 of this year due to damage to the pipeline caused by a Russian strike. Earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said he would not lift his veto on a EUR 90 billion EU loan for Ukraine until oil supplies were restored.
Peter Magyar, leader of the Tisza party that won the elections in Hungary, called on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to ensure the fastest possible restoration of the Druzhba pipeline’s operation.
The Kremlin previously stated that Russia is technologically ready to resume transit via the Druzhba pipeline to Hungary.
Hungarian oil and gas company MOL said on Wednesday, April 22, that state-owned JSC Ukrtransnafta, responsible for operating the Ukrainian section of the Druzhba pipeline, officially notified it that repair works on the Druzhba pipeline were completed and that force majeure conditions in effect since January 27, 2026 ceased.
