Revenue of Ukraine's food service establishments rises 12% in March, traffic up 16% – Poster study

Revenue of Ukrainian food service establishments in March 2026 increased by 12% compared to the winter months and by 5% year-on-year, according to a study by restaurant automation company Poster POS.

Analysts explained that the dynamics were influenced by seasonal factors, including warmer weather, the opening of outdoor seating areas, and pre-holiday activity.

According to their data, foot traffic in March also increased by 16% compared to winter levels, although it still lags 5% behind last year's level. According to restaurant market experts, this indicates a gradual return of establishments to stable operations and the active season.

"The restaurant market began to gradually emerge from the winter slump in the spring. We see that many establishments that had suspended operations are returning, and new projects are appearing in place of those that closed. Revenue in March exceeded last year's figures, and the positive trend continues into early April. This is a good signal for the market," said Poster CEO and co-founder Rodion Yeroshek.

According to Poster POS, the average bill in March remained almost unchanged compared to winter months but increased by 16% year-on-year. The main factor was price increases at establishments.

In turn, Mykhailo Pavlenko, co-owner of the mitte chain, confirmed improved performance with the onset of warmer weather.

"Currently, foot traffic at our establishments is solid, and performance has improved significantly with the onset of warmer weather. In March, at both mitte locations in Lviv, we saw an increase in the number of guests: people started going out more, stopping by for coffee, pastries, or just a quick bite. It's great that the city council allowed outdoor terraces to be set up earlier. But, as last year, the rainy season ahead of Easter made traffic somewhat unstable," Pavlenko said.

Poster POS is a Ukrainian restaurant automation company that develops accounting software for the HoReCa sector, installed on tablets. More than 50,000 establishments use its services. The study is based on anonymized aggregated sales data from Poster.
