Ukraine reduces imports of electric generators by 31% in last three months, while increasing imports of batteries by 3.8 times
According to statistics from the State Customs Service, imports of electric generators and rotary electric converters to Ukraine in January-March 2026 decreased by 31% compared to the same period in 2025, to $298.7 million.
According to statistics, in particular, in March, imports of this equipment decreased by 11% compared to March 2025 and by 41.9% compared to February 2026 – to $78.6 million.
In the first quarter, electric generators and converters were most often imported from Romania (21% of total exports of these products, or $62.7 million), China (18.5%, $55.4 million) and the Czech Republic (16.8%, $50.3 million), while last year these were the Czech Republic ($85.7 million), the USA ($77.3 million) and Austria ($68.7 million).
Exports of electric generators from Ukraine during this period were insignificant – $0.44 million.
At the same time, according to the State Customs Service, in the first quarter of this year, imports of electric batteries and separators to Ukraine increased by 3.8 times – to $833.9 million, mainly from China ($736.8 million, or 88.4%), as well as from the Czech Republic ($19.7 million) and Taiwan ($11.9 million).
Last year, in January-March, the largest suppliers were China with a share of 79.2%, Bulgaria (5.3%) and Taiwan (3.8%).
In March, imports of this equipment increased by 4.4 times compared to March 2025, but decreased by 8.6% compared to February 2026 – to $282 million.
At the same time, Ukraine exported batteries worth $11.4 million in three months, primarily to Poland ($3.3 million), France ($2 million), and Germany ($1.7 million), while last year exports amounted to $11 million, of which 35.7% went to Poland, 18.9% to France, and 13.9% to Germany.
As reported, at the end of July 2024, Ukraine exempted the import of electric generator equipment and batteries from duties and VAT.
According to the State Customs Service, in 2025, Ukraine increased imports of electric generators and converters by 2.3 times compared to 2024, reaching $1.69 billion, and batteries by 55% to $1.48 billion. Moreover, in January 2025, imports of electric generators increased eightfold compared to January 2024, and batteries by three times.
