World Bank downgrades Ukraine's 2026 GDP growth forecast to 1.2%
Ukraine’s economic growth in 2026 is projected to slow to 1.2%, down from 1.8% last year, before accelerating to 4% in 2027, according to the World Bank’s updated forecast published in its Europe & Central Asia Economic Update.
"Growth in Ukraine is expected to slip to 1.2 percent this year, weighed down by rising energy costs, intensified hostilities, labor constraints, and fiscal pressures," the report states.
Previously, in September of last year, the World Bank had already revised downward its forecast for Ukraine’s economy in 2026, from 5.2% to 2%, and for 2027, from 4.5% to 4%.
